Of course we don’t want our eyeliner and mascara smeared all down our face like this. I know a few things to keep your work of art in place, and not going anywhere! Whether its pencil eyeliner, gel, cream, liquid, or mascara, you can keep it in its place. And not have raccoon eyes!
-Use a good quality eyeliner. If you have a problem with watery eyes or oily lids, you might want to consider a waterproof formula. One of my favorites pencil one is theUrban Decay 24-7 Glide On Pencil. These are the creamiest, most pigmented, and long lasting. I have a short review on them here. My favorite gel liners are the Maybelline Eyestudio Gel Liners. They are amazing quality, and affordable! For liquid liner, my all time favorite is the L’Oreal Lineur Intense Felt Tip Liquid Liner. It is so easy to use and is super black!
-After applying liner, set it with a powder. This applies with any cream products. They must be set with some sort of powder to keep them in place. When I use a black eyeliner, I take a matte black eyeshadow like MAC’s Carbon, and an angled brush, and press the eyeshadow over it. This even keeps the eyeliner on my waterline all day! I do the same when I use a brown or a navy eyeliner. It makes such a difference!
-Use your face powder around your eyes. If your mascara tends to smudge on your upper or lower lid throughout the day, try setting your concealer and foundation around your eyes with a powder. A translucent one would work best since you don’t want to cake up this area. But I just use my MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural since it is light. This makes your lids matte so you don’t get those pesky dots above your lids from your lashes, or so your eyeliner doesn’t smudge. And it will keep you under eye concealer from fading or creasing!
-Another small tip I like to do when I use liquid liner on the top and pencil on the bottom is: when making the winged part, use the liquid liner to connect the top to the bottom instead of the pencil (if that made any sense!) I find that when I make the wing with the liquid and then use the pencil to connect it to the bottom, I get a smudge in the corner of my eye. When I use the liquid in the corner it doesn’t move, since the liquid liner is not creamy.
So set pencil and gel liners with an eyeshadow and use your face powder around your eyes and your eyeliner and mascara aren’t going anywhere! So simple but it works!
