VIDEO: Over-Blended Eyeshadow? How to Apply Eyeshadow Perfectly

Eyeshadow can be one of the trickiest parts about makeup. If you’re not careful, you can overblendshadow resulting in a messy, patchy, look. I’m taking you through step-by-step how to properly apply eyeshadow, simplified for beginners.

• Start out with an eye primer to avoid creasing and help eyeshadow blend easier. A smooth base allows shadow to easily blend and last longer.
• Cheaper alternative: e.l.f. Shadow Lock Eyelid Primer
• Apply a light shimmery color all over your lid with a Sigma Flat Definer Brush
• Used the Coastal Scents Revealed Smokey Palette for this tutorial
• Using a Sigma Small Tapered Blending Brush, apply a light matte brown shadow all throughout the crease using back and forth motions.
• Using the Sigma E36 Blending Brush, apply a dark matte brown to the outer-V portion. Avoiding the inner corners with dark shadow will prevent closing off small eyes.
• Using a Sigma Pencil Brush, take the same dark shadow on the outer half of your lower lashline, connecting to the top dark portion. 
• Blend over the entire eye with a clean Sigma 40 Blending Brush
• Apply a matte skintone shadow to the brow bone with a blending brush. This can also help tone down shadow in your crease if you find it’s too dark.
• Follow up with eyeliner and mascara to complete the look.

Tips to avoid over blending:

• Avoid taking shadow past the end of your brow and corner of your eye.
• Place a small piece of tape starting at the corner of your eye and angling up to the tail of your brow. 
• When applying crease color, angle your brush straight towards your eye versus tilted down.
• Apply face makeup after shadow to help clean up any fall out.
