Today’s video is about something I don’t discuss enough on my channel, and that is health and fitness. I wanted to share my story because I have finally gotten to a place where I am happy with how I feel, and have changed up my lifestyle to be healthier.
The theme of this is all about how to “realistically” get in shape, and by that I mean no fad diets, no cutting out foods you love, no insane workout programs, etc. These methods are doable for the average busy, working person and are easy to stick to.

A little about me…
I am not even close to being an athletic person. Never have been and never will be. BUT I have learned to love working out and how it makes me feel. I’m extremely busy, and have very limited time to squeeze workouts into my day. I am also a bargain shopper, so I prefer affordable options for workout plans. I LOVE food, and live with 4 other people who live an unhealthy lifestyle, making it difficult to stay on track.
The Beachbody 21 Day Fix workout program has been my go-to for over 9 months now. I love the workouts because they are only 30 minutes a day and the results are obvious pretty quickly. I also discuss in this video how the eating plan it comes with is not the right fit for me, but ways that I have managed my diet. I have adjusted my diet to include both things I love (like carbs and sweets) as well as healthy, easy to make food.
I share examples of healthy breakfast, lunch, dinners, and snacks that I like to eat in the video above.
Also, check out The Glam Belle, who is also Beachbody coach that helped me get started.
Tips for realistically loosing weight:
- Choose a workout program that works for your lifestyle. At home 30-min short workouts are easier to fit into busy schedules.
- Stick with it! Stop making excuses, and get into the mentality that you don’t have a choice to skip the workout. Once you do it, you will be so proud you didn’t skip!
- Be patient, it takes time to see results that will last. Once you start seeing results it becomes addicting 🙂
- Cut back on portion sizes of unhealthy food groups, like carbs and sugar. Limit them to only one per day to avoid cutting them out all together. Balance is key!
- Increase your protein and veggie intake. Eat them first so then you’re full and won’t want the carbs.
- Eat frequently! I cannot stress this enough. Have a healthy snack in between each meal to keep your metabolism revved up.
- Only drink water, and drink a ton of it! It helps keep me full so I eat a lot less.
- Use portion control containers (like what comes in the Beachbody kit) OR track your calories, carbs/fat/protein intake to help get you in check. I like the My Fitness Pal or my Fitbit. Once you get an idea for the right portions, it becomes habit and you’ll no longer need to use tools to help.
- Plan your meals out for the week. I pick out 4-5 dinners and grocery shop only once a week. I get everything I need at once, so I avoid wandering around the store when I’m starving after working trying to decide what to fix for dinner. I save all the recipes I like on Pinterest here.
