Belle Bar Organic is a company that makes custom blended tea rinses, face masks, hair masks, body scrubs and more. I discovered them when they partnered with DevaCurl, and provided some awesome samples of custom blended face masks (which I also feature in this video). I was intrigued by their tea rinses, because I’m always looking for natural ways to not only cleanse my hair, but solve problems I frequently have such as excess shedding, product build up, and breakage.
They’re super helpful, and assisted in selecting the perfect ingredients to address my naturally curly hair issues. The tea rinse I had blended contains:
- Green tea – promotes hair growth
- Horsetail – stops hair breakage
- Neem – encourages growth
- Seaweed – strengthens roots
- Rosemary – stimulates scalp
How to Use It:
I demonstrate in the video how I do the tea rinse, which is really simple! Start by boiling some water, place the loose tea leaves in the tea bag, set the tea bag in the water and let it steep for a few minutes. Place the tea in a cup or bowl and let is cool. I then shampoo and condition my hair in the shower, rinse, and pour the tea over my hair. Do not rinse yet! I let it sit to really give it time to work.
I like to apply a deep conditioner, like the DevaCurl Melt Into Moisture (review here), and put on my Hot Heads thermal cap (review here) and let it sit for 20 minutes with the tea still on my hair.
My Results:
After rinsing and styling using my curly hair routine, my hair had so much shine and definition! I noticed I didn’t have quite as much shedding when rinsing, but overall I still shed a lot. This is something that will hopefully improve in time with continued use. I have been using it once a week for about 4 times now, and love how soft and shiny it leaves my hair. With using so many products and only washing my hair 2x a week, I think a tea rinse is a great cleanse for my hair.
