Today I’m answering some of your most asked questions while I deep condition and style my hair! This is a talk-through routine, so you’ll get to heat my thought process while styling. Topics include: rice water rinses, cowlicks, scalp covering, uneven curl patters, humidity, creating clumps, and more. I also cover topics around my job, going full-time or not, and my skincare.
For today’s wash day, I first clarified using the Curlsmith Detox Kit. I wanted to incorporate some protein, so I used the Together Beauty Crown + Glory Smoothing Mask. After rinsing, I applied the Ouidad cream and gel to damp hair. I wanted a super defined look so I decided to section my hair and define each curl using my Behairful brush. I scrunched out excess water and then diffused. I scrunched out most of the gel cast for a softer look.
I had a lot of definition, and surprisingly still had great volume. In the video, I shared tips for how I create lift at the root using a brush. My curls held up very well throughout the week, and I went about 5 days before washing again with minimal refreshing.

Gena, I love to see your posts. My hair is also 3a-3b and I colour it so yes high porosity. I find mine is alot like yours and the crown of my head is also an issue. I am trying to learn from you. What I find amazing is that you do not always finger coil and still you get those beautiful ringlets how is that possible? Am I missing a part of your video? I find that yes a lot of people use oil at the end but once I do that it is ok for part of the day then I start to lose the curl and it starts to flatten. Sometimes I just want to give up. I live in Toronto, Canada and the other product I would like to try is Curlsmith but they do not have it here. Well, thanks for all the tips and continue teaching us curly hair people. If you have a solution or idea let me know. Thanks
