Do you ever just push your curls way too long without washing them and neglect it? When life gets crazy and I neglect my hair, it becomes dry, frizzy, and knotted. Today I’m going to walk you through the ultimate hair reset routine to snap your curls back. I’m incorporating steam treatments to detox my scalp and amp up my deep conditioner.

This is also a great routine when your hair is just not acting right and you can’t quite pinpoint what the issue is. I’m also sharing how I go product-free to give my curls a break and assess my hair.

Special thanks to Q-Redew for partnering with me on this post. I’m testing out the Q-Redew Hair Steamer and the Deep Moisture Masque, designed to help deeply hydrate and condition the hair, soften, and detangle.

How to Use the Q-Redew

  1. Remove the water reservoir and pour distilled water into the little hole. Secure the water reservoir back into place.
  2. Plug the device in to turn it on. The red light will blink while it’s heating up, and remain red once it’s fully heated.
  3. Hold the steam upright and press the button to emit steam.

Curly Hair Wash Day Reset Routine

  1. Start by applying an oil to the ends of your hair and any common breakage areas as a pre-poo treatment. This will help you gently detangle and reduce breakage. Pre-poo treatments can also help protect the hair during shampooing by filling in gaps of your cuticle, reducing further cuticle chipping and protein loss.
  2. Apply steam to the scalp using the Q-Redew. This helps loosen any buildup and stimulates blood flow to the hair follicles.
  3. Wet hair and apply a conditioner or primer. Detangle again to remove any knots.
  4. Shampoo with a clarifying shampoo and thoroughly scrub the scalp. Rinse.
  5. Apply the Q-Redew Deep Moisture Masque thoroughly, detangle, and comb it through from roots to ends. This masque is safe to get on your scalp because it contains natural squalane and aloe, making it anti-inflammatory.
  6. Use the Q-Redew steamer to steam the hair, increasing the deep conditioner’s penetration and moisture absorption. This is also great for those with low-porosity hair that struggles with absorption. I noticed my hair soaked up the deep conditioner with the steam, and I could no longer see the white product on my hair.
  7. Let it sit for about 10 minutes before rinsing. Finish your rinse with cool water.
  8. Apply a leave-in conditioner and scrunch hair with a hair towel.
  9. Air dry or diffuse. I diffused by hovering warm/cool air for just 5 minutes then finished air drying.

You can apply styling products if you wish, but sometimes I like to just let my hair be and let it “breathe.” This not only saves time and is great for days when you’re just staying home, but allows me to assess my hair for any damaged areas, split ends, and ensure my hair is protein/moisture.

My hair is obviously much frizzier without product and won’t last past a day, but I noticed it actually is pretty defined and shiny for not having gel thanks to the deep conditioner. It felt so soft and moisturized. I also noticed the areas that are coarse felt softer and not as brittle. I’ll definitely be incorporating steam in my weekly deep conditioning routine.

All I hear is a bunch of moaning about something that you could fix if you werent too busy searching for attention.
