Comparing the Best Styling Brushes for Curly Hair

There are so many brushes for curly hair, such as those from Denman, Tangle Teezer, Bounce Curl, and Briogeo. How do you know which one is right for you? I’m comparing them all side by side, using the same exact routine but swapping out the brushes so we can see the differences in my results.

Results

While my curls look the same overall in each routine, there are some subtle differences that I notice. I definitely had more volume with the Denman Brush routine, and the curls were smaller leading to a fuller look. The Briogeo and the Bounce Curl brush both create more shrinkage and clumps. The Bounce Curl brush had the most shrinkage and even curl clumps. The Tangle Teezer brush is very much the middle ground. It creates clumps while not putting too much tension on the hair and causing stress on the cuticle.

Overall, my favorites are the Tangle Teezer and the Bounce Curl Brush. I still love all of the brushes and use them all at various times, but I find I reach for those 2 the most.

  1. I believe 2 of the brushes are mis-named (the names are switched) in the video at around 18:02. Love your videos & posts! Our hair is fairly similar except mine is denser in back & I do not style for volume. Thank you for all your advice and knowledge, you have helped me so much! God bless!
