Are you overclumping your hair with your brush?

In this clip from a group coaching call, I was helping a member troubleshoot her brush styling method, and the issue came down to section size.

📏 When you put too much hair into the brush, it smushes your curls together and creates bulky clumps that don’t define well.

🖐 But here’s the fix: I use the brush to apply tension and distribute product, then refine with my hands. Finger-coiling or separating with your hands after brushing makes a big difference, and gives you more control over the final look.

Curls Won’t Clump? Step-by-Step Fix for Perfect Curl Clumps

If you’re not getting lasting hold, it’s probably your gel application!

💧 Use less leave-in or cream before gel (or skip it altogether) — too much softens curls and weakens hold.
🪮 Apply gel thoroughly in small sections for even coverage and stronger definition.
🌬️ Keep your hair still until it’s set — that’s how you lock in your cast.
