I have been on my Curl Journey for a year. After losing a lot of hair and perimenopause hitting hard, my fine, straight hair began growing in curly. I had wavy/curly hair when I was young but I never knew how to care for it. Enter Gena Marie! I watched her Youtube and Instagram videos and learned so much from her. She gives such high-value in her tutorials that have helped me enormously! After much trial and error, I feel like I’m better educated now and look forward to every new video she posts! I had the pleasure to be Gena Marie’s first live curl coaching client.
Gena was well prepared and had strategies to offer based on my profile.
I have been following Gena for a long time, but needed help tweaking particular styling issues. I found out I am using too many products and need to pare down my use. Time to clean out the cabinets!

My big AHAH was to incorporate curl styling cream while hair is wet, not as a last smoothing step. Adding products at the end can break down your cast, so use sparingly. Less is more!

I have low density, fine hair and always struggle with product recommendations from YouTubers because they have the high density, coarse hair that they say is so heavy. Well Gena is real and helps us with real struggles! I appreciate that she talks about covering the scalp due to low density, how to brush style to avoid stringy hair, and what products work well for low density hair. I look forward to her weekly content and tips to help me because I need all the help I can get! Her videos are very thoughtfully put together with obviously lots of research put into the products, I appreciate that. And I love how she spells her name!

I recently found your channel and after a lifelong battle with frizzy hair, your videos, tutorials and product suggestions have been an unbelievable game changer! I started with finger detangling and I could not believe what a difference it made vs using a brush. Next I started applying a small amount of conditioner in the shower before shampooing and again finger detangling instead of using a brush. Such better results! I started using the curl talk line based on your recommendation and love it! Your information on product ingredients and your presentation is excellent! Thank you, thank you Gena! Growing up my hair was always flat, greasy and course. It was very difficult to brush as tangles would form so easily and still do. So I kept it in a ponytail for a good portion of my childhood/teenage years. In my 20s I finally tried wearing my hair down and was just sad at how flat it was. I focused my styling methods on giving it more volume. I discovered foam really helped. Fast forward to only a few months ago my hair formed lose waves from a very cold shower. This discovery made me so excited. I did a ton of wavy/curly research. Been doing consistent practices with wavy styling methods. And bought a lot of Curlsmith supplies. And to my joy my hair has lovely 2a waves and my left side forms lose curls. Currently I struggle a lot with frizz and very confused pattern if any on the right side of my hair. It has poofiness, but definitely not as wavy was the left side of my hair.

I typically used a leave-in conditioner before my hard hold gel everytime I styled my hair and noticed my curls didn’t last. I saw the one-and-done video a month or so ago and tried it immediately. I eliminated the leave-in and use the gel right out of the shower. WOW! I get great curls after diffusing and they last for days. Thank you, Gena. That’s such great advice!

Hii! You are my first and favourite hair care creator I have come to on starting my curly hair journey and have helped me so so much. I’ve commented on your posts a few times on brief curly hair struggles and I really appreciate how you replied to each comment and helped! I literally binge watch your videos while eating hahah it’s so nice knowing im supporting someone and learning about how to improve my hair!! I stumbled, on your videos on IG 2 weeks ago and love your curls! I had just told my hairdresser I wanted to do more with my own naturally curled hairs. We actually planned updating my color for more dimension in October.
I normally throw my hair in a bun or ponytail because I just didn’t know what to do with it.
Enter your videos. I watched quite a few, and ordered some of your suggestions including jessicurl recoil cream and spriralous and Ouidad anti humidity (red lable) and AG recoil cream. I would never of thought to use a cream and gel together. I’ve always followed a less is more. Gel cast, what’s that? Avoided this too! Oops!
I’ve never used any kind of brush, now I have 3! I always let my hair dry by air, another whoops!
I bought the bionic diffuser you recommended, game changer. I’ve been using a water bottle to dampened and an old tshirt for micro plopping!
In just 2 weeks I’ve seen so many improvements from your videos and blog oh and I love my results and curls!
I hope to book a session when one aligns with a day off. I still have a lot to learn, but am thankful I stumbled on your content!

I found Gena’s YouTube channel as I wanted to up my curly hair game. She helped me dial in so many aspects to styling and my hair is the best it’s ever looked! Gena is one of only a handful of influencers I follow. This is a bit more remarkable because our curly hair isn’t that similar. However that’s just how versatile her content is! I wasn’t on YouTube often and happily discovered she’s been sharing content on everything from makeup to hair to skincare for years. I love that she’s down to earth, educates and entertains, and offers advice for ALL curl types. If I’m thinking about a hair/makeup/skin care purchase, I check for her recommendation.

I found Gena at a time when I was super defeated about my curly hair. She is honest and real and so informative. She’s a gorgeous woman who inspires me to continue loving this wild crown I wear!

Her videos are very informative and easy to follow so they’re really great for beginners to follow and not get overwhelmed.

I was new to the world of curly when I started following Genamarie.co. As I explored Gena’s account, a whole new world opened up for me. I quickly began following her on YouTube and Tik Tok so I could watch all of her videos. Gena has taught me so much about hair product ingredients, techniques and styling. Gena was the first curly girl I followed, and I’m so glad I found her. Aside from all her knowledge and willingness to try almost every product out there, she is just easy to love. I love to watch Gena’s YouTube channel because she is very informative and has a lot of great content. She addresses many concerns that those with curly hair may have. I can tell that she really takes the time to plan her videos and they are very thorough. I have learned so much about curly hair from her videos and the tips she’s shared have transformed my hair so drastically. I didn’t even know the potential that my curls had. She has really inspired me to wear my hair curly which made my 8 year old half sister so proud of her curls and she even made my brother and my aunt start taking care and embrace their naturally curly hair.

I think Gena was one of the very first influencers I started following about 4 years ago on her youtube and Instagram she has taught me and so many others to take care of our curly hair and my hair has never been so healthy and she is so educational and kind hearted and always responds to your questions you may have I just love watching her videos and her content she posts.

Thanks to gena I have learn many things about my curly hair. I didn’t used to deep condition, now I deep condition regularly and I have seen a lot of change in my hair, now it is more curly. Also many curly influencers don’t respond to DMS on IG about simple questions about which protein treatment, or a specific curly hair line, but she does, you can ask her and she’ll try to help you. And last thing, she makes everything so simple, which products you could use and the techniques for beginners.

Gena is the main reason why my hair is so healthy today! Her content on both Youtube and Instagram is amazing and she really listens to her viewers and their inputs and opinions and always answers any questions we have in depth.
