Covergirl Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation Review

I’m sharing a bonus video this week and reviewing the new Covergirl Healthy Elixir Foundation. I’ve been testing it out for a several weeks now, and wanted to see if it lives up to my all time favorite, the Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation.

Covergirl Healthy Elixir Foundation

The Formula

The Covergirl Healthy Elixir Foundation is formulated with Vitamins E, B3, B5 plus SPF 20, and is designed to give a healthy, natural look to the skin without being too greasy or cakey. I have combination skin, and I actually really enjoyed this formula because it wasn’t too drying when I set it with powder. I like the semi-matte finish it leaves on the skin, while not leaving it shiny.

Wear Test

I typically wear my foundation for around 14-15 hours, so I can definitely get a good gauge on foundation if it’s long-wearing. I thought the foundation held up very well, and I didn’t find it fade away where I tend to be oily.

A few downsides to this foundation: It seems to oxidize. I’ve heard this is common with some Covergirl foundations, but perhaps I have too dark of a shade. It seems to match me perfectly when I apply it and after it dries, but for some reason at the end of the day, it looks more tan. I think if I were to go down one more shade it would definitely be better.

Another downside is it does transfer, if you touch your face with your hands, your clothes, etc.

How does it compare to the Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation?

I still prefer the Outlast one over the Healthy Elixir, only because I find it to look better at the end of the night. However, the Healthy Elixir looks better on my skin in the winter, and doesn’t cling to any dry areas.

Final Thoughts

I think it’s a great foundation, depending on your skin type. If I was mostly dry or normal skin, this would be PERFECT. If you’re super oily, it may not be the best for you, UNLESS you have an amazing primer, powder, setting spray that will keep you matte all day.
