Curly Hair Routine for Wet Frizz + How to Tame Wet Frizz

This post is part 2 to my last one all about the common Causes of Wet Frizz & Webbing. Be sure to read that post first for more insights on why you may be experiencing wet frizz. In that video, we discuss dryness, damage, porosity, pH, and more.

For this video, I will be covering how to tame wet frizz when styling your curls. I start off with clarifying, a detox mask, deep conditioner, styling products, and tips for reducing frizz.

Tips Wet Frizz

  • Pre-poo with oil the night before wash day to prevent breakage
  • Clarify to remove build-up
  • Deep condition for 20 minutes and rinse with cool water
  • Gentle scrunch or “squish” curls to remove excess water
  • Use a cotton HairRepear Towel or T-shirt to prevent frizz
  • Wash & style in the upright position instead of upside down to prevent tangles and wet frizz
  • Apply leave-in conditioner and/or curl cream thoroughly
  • Apply stylers near the roots if your roots are dry & frizz
  • Comb stylers through to prevent patchy frizz
  • “Squish to condish” by pulsing while scrunching to help creams absorb & moisturize deeply
  • Evenly apply gel to lock in your style
  • Absorb excess water using a HairRepair towel, and gently pressing up with open palms instead of scrunching which can lead to frizz
  • Apply a second layer of gel by glazing it over the surface to tame the remaining frizz
  • Pick up individual curls and smooth over them using water mixed with gel to tame frizzy curl clumps
  • Apply extra cream to dry ends if needed
  • Hover diffuse instead of air drying to prevent additional frizz during the drying process
