A Realistic Week of Curly Hair – Wash Day, Workout & Sleep Protection, Quick Wash Day Routine

What does a typical week look like with naturally curly hair? My routine differs from day to day depending on my hair’s needs and my schedule. Some days such as on the weekend I have time to dedicate to my hair, whereas on other busy weekdays I do nothing to my hair and just let it be. In this video, I’m going to walk you through the progression of my curls every day, from Sunday to Saturday.

Sunday - Day 1 - Wash Day

Sunday – Day 1

My weekend wash day varies whether I wash on Saturday or Sunday. I’m not as rushed on the weekend so I like to do a full wash day routine and often test new products out. I needed to do a bond repair treatment, clarify, and deep condition. This “resets” my curls for the week and gives me a fresh start by removing buildup and conditioning my dry hair. I typically do bond repair treatments about every other weekend or 2-3 times per month.

Monday - Day 2 - Skipped Refreshing

Monday – Day 2

I skipped refreshing because my curls held up great during my workout because I wore a satin bonnet since I workout at home. I also applied the Curlsmith Scalp Stimulating Booster to my scalp and then just pinned my front pieces back with little claw clips while I worked.

I also skipped refreshing on this day. My curls had started to become frizzy and also fell limp in the back. I know I’m due for a haircut soon when my curls on the underside layer fall straight and hang down looser than the rest of my curls.

I had a massage appointment and just wore my hair up in an Invisibobble to prevent it from getting too stretched out. I took it out right after my appointment, and when I got home I just used a headband to keep my curls out of my face while I worked.

Wednesday - Day 1 - Wash Day

Wednesday – Day 4 / Day 1

I debated on washing my hair this day because I was short on time. My hair was very dry and had lost a lot of definition, so I decided to do a quick wash day routine. I went with drugstore products and just used a basic shampoo and conditioner.

My curls usually last about 3-4 days before they need to be rehydrated again.

Thursday - Day 2 - Refreshed

Thursday – Day 2

My curls were a bit frizzier than I usually see on day 2, so I decided to do a quick refresh. I’m not sure if it was the weather or something else that caused it to be so frizzy after using the Kinky Curly Custard which usually gives me more hold. Perhaps I softened it too much when using that oil on top. I also used scalp refresher spray since my scalp was sweaty after my workout.

Friday - Day 3 - Skipped Refreshing

Friday – Day 3

I had a lot of frizz this day but decided to skip refreshing since I wasn’t planning on getting ready or going anywhere. I was surprised even with Thursday’s refresh that my curls had this much frizz on day 3.

Saturday - Day 1 - Wash Day

Saturday – Day 4 / Day 1

It was time for another weekend wash day this day, and it was Christmas Eve! I wanted to have my hair washed and ready to go for my plans on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I did not record this wash day to save time in the video, and since I wasn’t crazy about my results from new products I’m testing, I’ll be skipping on sharing these.
