VIDEO: TréLuxe Review & Routine + Tips for Volume

One of the most requested curly hair brands for me to review is TréLuxe, so I’m so excited to share my thoughts with you. I’m going to be taking you through each product, it’s ingredients, and how I use them in a wash day routine. I’m also sharing some of my best tips for volume with definition.

TreLuxe Products

TréLuxe Curl Renew & Restore™Gentle Cleansing Rinse
This sulfate-free cleanser had just the right amount of lather to leave my hair feeling clean but not stripped. It also contains Slippery Elm, an ingredient known to create slip. I love when a shampoo doesn’t tangle up my hair worse while cleansing. This also contains Hydrolyzed Keratin and Keratin Amino acids, which are small proteins.

TréLuxe Untie the Knot™ Nourishing Leave-In Conditioner
I love a good multi-purpose product! This leave-in conditioner can also be used as a regular conditioner and rinsed out. Like all these products, the slip was amazing. It contains coconut oil, aloe vera leaf juice, keratin amino acids (small protein), and many natural extracts. Detangling was a breeze with this, and it left my hair feeling silky.

TréLuxe Curl Supreme™ 4-in-1 Hydrating Crème
Although this curl cream is in a tub, it’s not too thick and heavy for my hair. I love the whipped texture, and it provides just the right amount of hydration. A little goes a long way, so the product is going to last a long time. It contains similar ingredients to the other products, with coconut oil, aloe, and rice amino acids. This also has Propylene Glycol, a humectant.

TréLuxe Hi! Definition™ Curl Enhancer Styling Gel
This gel has a unique custard texture, that’s whipped and not sticky. A little goes a LONG way, and using too much will cause flakes. I would consider it a medium hold. It can be a strong hold, but if you use so much that you get a hard cast, you may have flakes if you scrunch out the crunch. This gel is glycerin-free but has other humectants such as Propylene Glycol and honey. Other ingredients include aloe and keratin amino acids. Although this gel is high in humectants, I was surprised how well this held up in humidity. My assumption is the aloe and keratin amino acid ingredients help keep curls intact in the humidity.

Final Thoughts
Overall, I was pleased with these products. They are definitely going to be in my rotation. I loved the volume I had on wash day, which is typically hard to achieve with thicker stylers like these. My curls were a bit more “piece-y” and separated, which gave me volume. However to achieve thick curl clumps I need use my Denman brush when applying them.

How do I refresh with these?
Refreshing is simple for Day 2, because I can just use water to re-activate the gel and smooth over frizz. However if I need to add more gel, such as on Day 3-4, it’s tricky at times to avoid flakes from layering on too much gel. The key is to have wet hands, and dilute the gel while only using a small amount.

Have you tried TreLuxe? If so, let me know what products were your favorite? Which ones are you planning to try?
