Drugstore Wash Day – Talk-Through Routine Testing New Products

I’m switching it up for this routine and talking through my first impressions of some new drugstore products I recently picked up. These products are not technically new, but new to me. I’m trying to branch out and test drugstore curly girl method approved products so that I am more familar to be able to make recommendations for y’all.

Wash Day Steps

Clarified with Carol’s Daughter Wash Day Delight
Deep conditioned with SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Treatment Masque for 15 minutes & rinsed
Wrapped loosely hair with the HairRepear Towel
Spritz lengths of hair with water
Applied SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie and combed through. damp hair
Raked in Dove Beauty Shine & Moisture Finishing Gel
Used the Behairful brush to create ringlets around the top section
Scrunched out excess water gently with the HairRepear Towel
Glazed second light layer of gel
Diffused until dry
Fluffed & scrunched out a little bit of the crunch

I loved my final results! The mask was SUPER hydrating, and definitely ideal for very dry hair when you also need a bit of protein. I don’t think you would get protein overload from this, as the protein ingredient is a bit far down the ingredients list.

The curl cream was very thick, so I think it’s ideal for coarse hair textures and type 3c-4c curl types. If you have hair similar to mine, only use a tony amount and add some water to your palms when applying it to dilute it.

The gel was BOMB, and I loved the watery slippery formula. This may, in fact, be a dupe for the Ouidad Advanced Climate Control Gel that y’all know I love! I still need to test it out in the humidity next spring.

In the video, I also shared a clip of my hair the next day. Honestly, it looked even better on day 2! I was so impressed with these products, especially the gel. I loved how it could be re-activated with just a little bit of water for a quick and easy refresh.
