There’s nothing worse after winter than wanting to bust our your spring clothes but your skin is pale and super dry from the months of cold air. Unless of course you’re one of those people with gorgeous pale skin, which unfortunately is not me! I love being tan, and feel most confident when I am. Since tanning in the sun or beds is a huge no-no for our health, self tanners are my go to for the warmer months!
I have tried so many sunless tanners, and Tanceuticals is the most hydrating self tanner I have tried. It’s called a CC lotion (short for Color & Correct), and is packed with moisturizers such as jojoba oil, aloe vera, Vitamin E, Acai Berry, and tons more! It not only hydrates your dry winter skin but it gives it a gorgeous color and glow. They have 2 shades, light and dark. I tried the dark and this was my result after just one application:
Tanceuticals Self Tanner Before & After |
You can totally build the color if you want a darker look, buy applying it either twice at once, or doing it 2 nights in a row. The photo above is my results after applying it once. If you would like to see how to apply self tanner, watch my tutorial here. I also have one on how to self tan your hands, feet, and elbows here.
Since this self tanner is clear and does not have a bronzer color guard, you have to be sure to blend it in thoroughly. I used the application mitt to evenly spread the product. The mitt also made it easy to get my hands. I recommend using a damp cloth to go over dry areas like your knuckles, inside of wrists, elbows, and toes. Also make sure you exfoliate really good before applying, and do not have any soap or lotion residue on your skin. The only lotion I would recommend applying before the self tanner is to your hands, feet, elbows, and knees. This will help hydrate the dry patches and prevent them from absorbing too much self tanner.
Let the tanner dry before going to bed, and wear a loose top. Let it sit at least 6 hours for the color to develop, and you’ll wake up with a dark tan!
I was amazed at how long this tan lasted. I got a full 7 days out of it, which is unusual considering my self tanners usually fade after 5-6 days. I snapped a photo on the 7th day before removing it and reapplying to show you how it was wearing. The inside of my elbows was the only place it was fading, and the inside of my wrists as you can see below. Nothing super noticeable though!

Overall I was really pleased with this self tanner. It’s not the absolute best I’ve ever tried, but I will definitely finish using it. I love how long wearing it is!
You can purchase the Tanceuticals CC Self Tanning Body Lotion in Dark here for $25 (reg. $32).
