Heyy!
Since summer is here I’ve been wearing my hair natural since the humidity. Its completely pointless for me to straighten my hair when it gets curly at the sign of cloud. So I’m going to show you all what I do to control frizz, make ringlets, keep it hydrated, and under control.
The best way to get perfect curls is to use products designed for curly hair. For shampoo and conditioner, try Pantene Pro-V Curly Hair Series.
The key to keeping ringlets is to NOT brush your hair, not even if the shower. If your hair is kind of thin, you could run your fingers or a wide-toothed through it when its wet. But if your hair is as thick as mine, leave it alone. The brush will pull the curls apart and make it bushy.
Its also extremely important to keep curly hair hydrated. Curly hair is the driest out of all hair types. Keeping it moisturized with prevent frizz and breakage. My favorite deep conditioner is Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Deeeeep Conditioner. I use this once a week and before I straighten. I also use it after my hair has been straightened because it needs the most moisture after having it straight.
After washing my hair, I like to let it dry most of the way, but still wet. If I style it when it is soaking wet, it looks to flat. I have tried everything from creams to gels to mousses for controlling curly hair. Gel is wayyy to sticky and makes your hair look hair and greasy. You want your curls to look natural and soft. Mousse has been the best bet for me. It is good for all hair types. Any mousse with really work. But most of them still make your hair a little crunchy. The best mousse that I have tried is Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Mousse. This stuff is awesome. My hair looks completely natural, but under control.
This is also great if you have kind of wavy hair but you want to scrunch it to make it wavier or curly.
Another awesome Tousle Me Softly Product is the Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Finishing Touch Cream. I use this along with the mousse. Its like a thick gel-cream. It controls frizz. If your hair is not that curly, you could get away with just using this. Creams are more for just containing frizz and keeping it from getting bushy. But since my hair is really curly, I need both.
If some are your curls are falling flat, you can curl random pieces with a 3/4 inch curling iron, or a 1 inch, depending on how tight your natural curls are. I do this after i put mousse in and it really holds well. I don’t do this every day thought because it takes more time. The best way to make it look natural is to curl them all different directions. Such as, some towards your face and some away from your face. I use a basic cheap Conair one because it doesn’t take much. Click here for it.
The best advice for curly hair- Go with mousse or cream!! Stay away from gels and hairspray. No one likes crunchy stringy hair!
Natural is better!! Especially for summer. I like my hair straight, but people always tell me I look better with it natural. Don’t try to change what you were born with!
I want to know if any of you battle with curly hair. It is probably the most difficult hair to deal with . But I have been struggling to control it all my life, and have just found the best routine.
So if you have curly hair, comment below, and share what products you have found that work best.

Gena

you have amazing hair! So shiny x
Your hair is beautiful Gena! I love how shiny, and soft your curls look. Lucky you, everytime I try and curl my hair I always end up with a frizzy mess instead LOL! But I will definitely try the products that you suggested 🙂 Thanks for this post hun!
Aw thanks guys! Its a lot of work!
hi hun, i'm having a makeup sale on my blog so please feel free to check it out! thanks 😉
I have a veeeery curly hair, but I will tell you, I would never exchange mine for a dead straight one, it is just too "blah". Of course I struggle to keep my hair presentable, but it is worth it, there is absolutely nothing sexier than curls. I would also say it is a mix of innocent and sexy, who can ask for more? I adooore pantene it is hands down the best and I also like John Frieda shine shock for a little glow :)))
when i had curly hair last time, i swear by charles worthington hair healer! lol coz im a sucker for its name haha
xoxo elle
@CHERRIES IN SYRUP-
I totally agree! I was thinking about you when I wrote this post because I knew you have really curly hair too. Curly hair is awesome because you can do anything with it. It holds curls (with a curling iron) and you can straighten it or make it wavy. :]
